Here are the step-by-step instruction for BO Data Services monitoring configuration:

- In the Top menu Navigate to the Dashboards > Administrator
- In the Administrator Dashboard, locate the BusinessObjects Data Services Systems tile and click on the header to expand
- Click on tool icon to add a new BO Data Services system for monitoring
- The Wizard will start an dthe following prompting the screen will show upbelow. Please fill in the values as required, click when completed and ready for the next step
- If successful a new BODS System configuration will be created and the following dialog will pop up
- Click OK to proceed to the next step for monitoring credentials configuration
3.) Before connecting to an ASE Server, please make sure that the following configuration parameters are properly configured:
4.) In the Create New ASE Server wizard, fill out the following information as a best practice:
- Description
- Role
- Site
- Gateway - This field is set to your primary gateway by default. If you have more than one gateway and wish to choose another, simply pick from the dropdown list. Also, please ensure that the gateway chosen has network access to the SAP system to be added.
- Server Name
- Host - Ensure that the hostname is DNS resolvable by the gateway.
- ASE Server Connection Port
Once completed, click the "Finish" button to add the system.
5.) A pop-up message will appear to confirm that the SAP (Sybase) ASE has been added successfully.
Click "OK" to dismiss and proceed to configure the ASE Server user to be used for monitoring.
6.) Provide the new SAP Account information in the wizard and press "Finish" to complete the configuration.
7.) A pop-up message will appear to confirm that the JDBC DB account has been created successfully.
Click "OK" to complete the process.
8.) You should now be able to see the newly added ASE Server under the ASE Servers panel with the status "In Progress".

It may take a couple of minutes to show "In Progress". You may refresh the page if it does not appear after 5-15 minutes (depending on how many application servers exist). If there are issues with the configuration such as wrong system connection parameters or invalid account, you may see the status as "Ready" which indicates that the system is not running. For further troubleshooting, click on the Log icon in the Tools next to the ASE servers. |
9.) You should then see the ASE Server in the Service Grid similar to what is shown below.
- . Fill in the fields as required. Make sure you specify the BO Server name in the CMS System field, use <host name>:<port> notation with the port typically set to 6400. Click to proceed to the next step
- If successful a new BODS monitoring account will be created and the following dialog will pop up:
- Click OK to complete the configuration. The newly configured system will show up in the list:
- Allow 5 minutes for the Gateway to pick up the new application to monitor. If the Application monitoring has started successfully the status should change to InProgress. If the status remains Ready inspect the application log by clicking on the log tool icon.
- When the status of the application is InProgress, the BODS system monitoring has started. The initial discovery of the components takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Please be advised that currently the BODS systems are monitored as a part of BusinessObjects monitoring and all UI constructs are derived from it. Standalone BODS system configuration while fully functional, will not allow for viewing application hierarchy or setting up monitors - should configure BusinessObjects system as well and BODS will appear under Data Services folder:
